Twice a year, the City of Sugar Land holds a Citizen's Police Academy Class. Citizens learn about various aspects of Law Enforcement and participate in activities designed to give citizens a taste of what it is to be a police officer. The class is offered free of charge to Sugar Land residents and individuals that work in Sugar Land and are 18 years of age or older. The SLCPAAA members assist the police department with these classes.
The Academies are held at the Sugar Land Police Department. For more information check out the Sugar Land Citizens' Police Academy web site. Each year, the SLCPAAA commemorates National Police Memorial Week with a Law Enforcement Memorial Bike Ride and Crime Prevention Fair. SLCPAAA members and sponsors including major sponsor Republic Harley Davidson, make it possible for this event to raise funds for the benefit of Law Enforcement including such events as the SLPD Annual Awards Banquet. 2012 will mark the 4th annual event, and we look forward to honor and remember our Police Department heroes.
At the May 21 2011 ride, the Sugar Land Police Department dedicated the Memorial Garden on the department premises. Click on the picture to see more photos of this exciting event.
